How NHL defensemen, Erik Karlsson used a pepperoni pizza to pull off the perfect proposal and score a #shesaidyes
Diamonds may be forever, but it’s pizza that’s a girl’s real best friend. This is a fact that Senators player Erik Karlsson definitely took advantage of when proposing to his girlfriend (now fiancé), Melinda Currey. We aren’t sure if we are more into the diamond ring, or the pepperoni pizza it was perched on as he got down on one knee. Either way, he made pizza-loving women everywhere drool in cheesy jealousy.
As the story goes, Melinda really loves pizza. Erik, knowing this, planted the engagement ring in the middle of a big, cheesy one from Pure Kitchen in Ottawa. The restaurant’s owner said that Erik knelt—pizza in hand—in the courtyard of All Saints Anglican Church. Could the story be any more romantic? Think of the pepperoni as extra insurance to get the answer he wanted. The couple shared their happy photos on Instagram afterwards.
This engagement story is proof that the proposal doesn’t need to be elaborate to be a major success. What makes popping the question perfect is that it’s asked in the perfect way for your person.
